Immunoglobulins are an important part of the body’s immune response. The immunoglobulin E (IgE) molecule exists as monomers consisting of two heavy chains and two light chains.
IgE are antibodies produced by the immune system. The levels of IgE in serum are increased in patients with allergic disorders and are known to be elevated in various autoimmune disorders.
The measurement of IgE provides useful information in the assessment of these diseases or conditions.
