Supply Chain Assistant I

To ensure all warehouse and storage operations that support packaging are performed in a safe, timely and error free manner. To maintain cleanliness in and around the storage warehouse. To support packaging by managing, delivering and retrieving packaging materials to and from the staging area. To assist in all aspects of the shipping/receiving department. To comply with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). To act as back up to custodial role.                           

Material Handler Responsibilities: 

May include some or all of the following: 

  • Moving materials from “Hold for Q.C.” to appropriate bin locations.
  • Organizing and maintaining the electronic inventory system to ensure that bin locations for all materials are accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Reviewing upcoming packaging jobs and ensuring that required materials are transferred from the warehouse to the packaging floor as needed, while maintaining appropriate segregation of materials on the floor.
  • Ensuring all packaging materials returned to warehouse are accounted for and placed in correct bin locations.
  • Completing all required documentation in a timely and error free manner, including all associated data entry requirements.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in and around the warehouse area.
  • Rotating stock when necessary to ensure older lot numbers are easily accessible and used first.
  • Operating forklift following prescribed safety and operational procedures.
  • Performing inspections on incoming packaging materials and completing required documentation.
  • Filling and packing customer orders following Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations as well as in-house written procedures.
  • Receiving, visually inspecting, labeling and storing incoming materials.
  • Maintaining inventory control of finished goods.
  • Updating departmental QMS procedures as required.
  • Carrying out local pickups and deliveries including delivery of mail between buildings as well as local orders.
  • Other tasks as required.
  • Custodial Responsibilities: 

May include some or all of the following:

  • Vacuuming, sweeping and scrubbing of floors
  • Emptying waste containers
  • Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms and fixtures
  • Dusting cabinets, computers and other areas as needed
  • Keeping inventory of supplies and stocking areas as needed
  • Maintaining forms in relation to documenting cleaning
  • General building upkeep such as replacing lights, painting, small repairs, etc.
  • Seasonal work such as snow removal from entrances
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Education / Experience:                                                    

  • Grade 12 with materials handling experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using computers.

Skills / Pre-requisites:

  • Must be able to work neatly, accurately and independently as a team member in a fast paced, multi-task environment.
  • Ability to use a forklift is essential.
  • Regular, heavy lifting is required.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Maintenance/carpentry skills considered an asset.


  • No specific training experience required.
